Deep Throat Surfaces

The ultimate anonymous coward of all time, "Deep Throat", has revealed himself. W. Mark Felt was a high ranking member of the FBI during the Watergate scandal. The liberal coup d'etat which paved the way for the worst President in US history, Jimmy Carter. Why would he stay silent for 30 + years? Why surface now? He's 91 years old and I wonder if this is something that he needed to get off his chest prior to departing this Earth. I'd be interested in finding out what his political history was. I'd be interested in which political campaigns he has donated to. Was he a Kerry supporter? One thing is for certain, J. Edger Hoover would turn in his grave had he known that an FBI agent was involved in providing information to the press that would lead to the overthrow of the American Presidency. Not to mention the crimes that he committed by turning over classified documents. His motivation is somewhat in question. At the time, Felt was the #3 law enforcement officer in the country. With the death of Hoover, he became the #2 guy. Speculation is that he may have seen turning over these documents over the Washington Post as a way to get a Dumocrap elected President (which is what happened) and he would then ascend to the office of Director of the FBI (which didn't). But since the statute of limitations on this crime has expired (5 years), he will not be prosecuted. And because of his age and the length of time involved, his pension is probably safe. So what can happen? Nothing. What is his motivation for coming forward? Personally I think it's his last chance to toot his own horn before he hears Gabriel playing his tune. In my opinion, for his crime of inciting a coup d'etat he should be tried for high treason. At the time, the United States was involved in Vietnam. So in a sense we were in a time of war. His actions could be seen as being pro-Dumocrap and in a sense pro-liberal policy. And with the Dumocraps involvement in the anti-war effort could be seen as giving aid and comfort to the enemy. And using liberal loose interpretation policies when it comes to the Constitution, he clearly satisfies the Constitutional criteria for Treason. Never mind the fact that it was a Dumocrap President who first sent US troops to Vietnam. Another Dumocrap who escalated the conflict and a Republican who started the withdrawal. And yet another Republican who completed it. Never mind that the crimes that the Washington Post was alleging the White House was guilty of, are the same violations of the law that W. Mark Felt is guilty of doing himself. So it took one crime to bring to light the crimes of another. What did your mother always tell you? Two wrongs don't make a right. He should be tried for violating his oath of office and to the service. If found guilty, which he basically has plead guilty to by his admission, he should be required to pay back his pension retroactive to the beginning of his retirement. Plus the pay that he received from the United States government from the date of the Washington Post release which led to the President's resignation. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning what President Nixon did. But, it was no more terrible than that which brought to light his crimes. End of Rant. Kerry 180 BlogBurst 5/31/05

Last week, John Kerry released a statement claiming that he had signed his SF-180 to release his military records. But for some reason he has been unable to post the form. More delay only fuels the fire of speculation that he actually has something to hide. During the campaign, he release portions of his record with hundreds of documented pages missing. Why? He served in Vietnam. It is beyond the scope of reality to figure that anything that may be in his file might be a threat to national security. So there is no valid reason for not releasing those records. This is just a practice in liberal revisionism. He figures that time is on his side. Hoping that the American public will forget this promise that he made on national television. Out of site, out of mind. Well guess what? We are here to make sure it isn't forgotten. We want to know what is in those records that you've been hiding so well Senator (and I use the term loosely). Send the form off. And when we see the records, it would be a novel idea if all of the pages were there. Help Put A Stop To The Most Dangerous Organization In America. Zarqawi: Alive or Dead?

An audio tape claiming to be of terror mastermind Musab Abu al-Zarqawi, has been released. On the tape, the speaker claims to have been wounded but the reports of the grave nature of those wounds have been overstated. The speaker claims that he has been treated and is in command of day to day operations of Iraq's al-Qaeda network. In the tape that the speaker has titled, "A letter from a soldier on the firing line to his commander," the speaker downplays the seriousness of his injuries. The voice addressing bin-Laden states, "I am sure you have heard through the media that I was wounded and treated in a Ramadi hospital. I would like to assure you and the Muslim nation that these were pure allegations. It was a light wound, thank God. We are back fighting them in the land of the two rivers." "It was one of the greatest battles of Islam," the speaker said. "We would like to assure you that we are continuing on the path of jihad, we are committed to our pledge. We will either win or die trying." According to military officials, 125 militants were killed during the week long offensive against Zarqawi's forces. In the same operation 9 Marines were killed and 40 injured, and an undetermined number of civilians were killed or wounded.
Source
On FoxNews Channel's morning show, Fox And Friends, it was stated that Zarqawi claimed to have forwarded a battle plan to bin-Laden for his approval and suggestions. How true is all of this? The tape has been released but the voice cannot be positively confirmed to be that of Zarqawi at this time. My spin... It seems to me that these terrorists are like cockroaches. Difficult to find in the light and hard to kill. Osama bin-Laden has bee surviving for years in the mountains and caves of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Zarqawi living on the run, under fire, and now wounded, survives despite a large bounty on his head. They both know, if they come out of their hiding places long enough to get a fix on them, they would catch a cruise missile in the chest. End of Rant

Memorial Day 2005

Honor is more than a word. It's an action and a way of living.
We've all seen the old war movies where a man throws his body on a live grenade in order to save his buddies. Marine Corporal Jason Dunham didn't just do that in a movie, he lived it. Faced with a live grenade, he covered it with his Kevlar sustaining wounds which would take his life 8 days later. His two buddies survived with injuries. Corporal Jason Dunham has been nominated for the Medal of Honor. And there is no greater example of what it takes to achieve this award than Corporal Jason Dunham USMC.
The remains of Corporal Dunham's Kevlar
Corporal Dunham was a man. A man with honor that some in this country will never achieve in a million years. The kind of honor that puts the lives of others ahead of his own. The example of an American Soldier that is unmatched. His actions were not to seek glory or this prestigious medal. But to save life, achieve victory, and Honor. In my mind, Memorial Day 2005 is dedicated to the memory of Corporal Jason Dunham, USMC. And when you are enjoying that hotdog and the company of your family this weekend, remember who has given you that ability. And if you have occasion to type off an email to your Congressman and Senators, urge the speedy award of his nomination.

Today I have received an email which has made me feel honored. I have been invited and elected to become a member of The Wide Awakes. Stop The ACLU BlogBurst 5/26/05

Selective Civil Rights
What is Selective Civil Rights you ask? Selective Civil Rights in our context means the ACLU's defense of the civil rights for some groups of people and ignoring them for others. For example, the ACLU supports a gay/lesbian diversity group's right to meet in a high school after the school day. But they will oppose the right of a Bible study group to do the same thing. Selective Civil Rights. The ACLU has consistently defended a woman's right to choose what happens to her body (in their typical wording). But in fact, they have consistently defended a woman's right to use abortion as a form of birth control, while they stongly oppose the death penalty for convicted mass murderers. The ACLU consistently defends a woman's right to murder an innocent life while opposing the death penalty for a convicted murderers as cruel and unusual punishment. An innocent life which hasn't had the opportunity to do any wrong is considered a parasite in the eyes of the ACLU. Whereas, a Death Row inmate is a sentient being who's life has value. This is the typical backwards thinking that is leading this nation into the darkness of oppression which the ACLU will be instrumental in achieving. And they will do this under the guise of championing the civil rights of all Americans. "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."-Voltaire

The right to express unpopular opinions, advocate despised ideas(NAMBLA) and display graphic images is something the ACLU has steadfastly defended for all of its history. Exception: in the case for pro-lifers. The ACLU's Reproductive Rights Project has a lot to do with why the ACLU is so reluctant to defend the rights of anti-abortion protesters.
"With a $2 million dollar budget and a staff of 17 employees, Janet Benshoof was the Union's most devoted activist for abortion rights.....she became so overextended in her approach that she advocated mob pressure on the judiciary; she pushed for "pro-choice" activists to march on court rooms where abortion cases were being heard."Twilight of Liberty
To the ACLU, anti-abortion protesters are not seen in the same light as civil rights demonstrators in the 60's, but as lunatic fascists out to destroy freedom.
"Hence, the reluctance of the ACLU to defend principle, that is, the exercise of First Amendment rights by anti-abortion activists. Ironically, real fascists-like the American Nazis and Klansmen-have had their rights protected more often and with greater vigor by the ACLU than anti-abortion demonstrators.Twilight of Liberty
Of course there are loonies in the anti-abortion movement, but that was true of the civil rights movement, the anti-war movement of the 60's, and even today in the "pro-choice" demonstrators. Every movement has it's fringe element. But while the ACLU was right on top in defending any violations of the law for all of these movements, when it comes to the opponents of abortion having their First Amendment rights violated by the authorities, the ACLU is completely absent. Not even having the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act(RICO) thrown at anti-abortion protesters moved the ACLU into action.
The ACLU is nominally opposed to the RICO statute, and there are some senior members, like Washington official Antonio Califa, who are truly opposed to the invocation of RICO against any protesters, including opponents of abortion. However, due largely to the influence of Benshoof, the ACLU's record is grievously stained in this area.Twilight of Liberty
It was actually her suggestion in a booklet titled, "Preserving the Right to Choose: How to Cope with Violence and Disruption at Abortion Clinics." The ACLU would not tolerate the use of RICO against nuclear weapons dissidents, but in the case of anti-abortion protesters the matter is quite different. In fact, the ACLU has actually used the RICO against them. When pro-life demonstrators were sued under RICO in Philadelphia, the local chapter of the ACLU filed an amicus brief on behalf of the plaintiffs, the Northeast Women's Center. The ACLU missed another opportunity to defend civil liberties in 1989 in West Harvard, Connecticut. It was on June 17 that 261 persons were arrested, and then physically abused by police, for staging a sit-in. The police used "come-a-long" holds, or "pain compliance holds", with a result that many claimed permanent nerve damage. Some were denied medical care, and others were not allowed phone calls for over two days. One woman had to have surgery after the police damaged her uterus. The ACLU did nothing. When John Spear, a publisher of a small New York newspaper, wrote an editorial against police brutality, he too was slapped with a RICO suit. He was charged with extortion. The ACLU did nothing.
"Why do they still call it a civil liberties union?" commented ACLU member and nemesis Nat Hentoff. When pressed about cases like the West Hartford one, the ACLU typically responds that it can't get involved with the defense of anti-abortion protesters because it is already committed ot the ise of the abortion clinics. When John Leo asked Alan Dershowitz, "Can it be that the affiliates sometimes deliberately involve themselves early on one side so they will have an excuse not to help victims on the other?" the Harvard Law professor replied, "Absolutely. They go to the pro-choice people and say, "Get us in right away, "thereby giving them the excuse of conflict of interest in the event they are contacted by the anti-abortion side. And what does the ACLU say when asked specifically about its duplicity regarding RICO? Lynn Paltrow, who worked for Benshoof, explained the Union's attitude: "Its ACLU policy to oppose application of RICO, but there are those on staff who feel that as long as RICO exists, this kind of behavior (Operation Rescue tactics) does fit." "In other words," as John Leo puts it, "RICO is totally bad, but sort of useful."Twilight of Liberty,
It looks pretty clear to me. In the eyes of the ACLU you the First Amendment protects child molesters, perverts, and fascists, but not Pro-lifers! Quite hypocritical in my opinion. This was a production of Stop The ACLU Blogburst! If you would like to join, it is very simple.

John Kerry Reports That He's Signed SF 180

Today on Fox & Friends, it was reported that John Kerry has at last signed the long awaited SF 180. He released a statement that he's signed the form to release his military records and it should be mailed within a couple of days. A couple of days? What's wrong now? Why is he continuing to delay? If its signed why isn't it already in the mail? Can't he find a stamp? Wait, members of Congress get free postage so that can't be it. Maybe he can't find an envelope. Wait, members of Congress have an almost unlimited supply of office supplies so that can't be it. Maybe he's got something to hide and he needs additional time to find someone to cover it up. Well, that sounds more like it. If I'm wrong, then why all the delays? If I'm wrong, why not get the air clear? If I'm wrong, then why all the stalling? If I'm wrong, then why is it that everytime a liberal is backed into a corner, its the same thing. Delay, destroy, and buy off. This has been a product of Kerry 180 BlogBurst. A day late. A New Shirt At The Store and Blogger Problems

Isn't this a great looking shirt?!? Stop by the store and pick one up.
Blogger has been a problem for some of us die hard bloggers. No matter your personal politics, those of us who write about the political arena depend upon our blog host to be up and running. Last night my good friend Jay had a problem with Stop The ACLU. For some reason, we could not view his blog nor could he post to it. And that is bad. As easy as blogger is to use (unless you are trying to upload an image), it seems to be a bad deal for dependability. Stop The ACLU will soon be moving to www.stoptheaclu.com. And once that happens, the dependability and stabilization of his blog will be 100% better. I am also going to be moving. The inability to access my blog exactly when I want is becoming a problem. I have found a host for my new website that will guarantee 99.9999% up time. The hosting comes with blogging software, more storage than I'll ever need, tons of bandwidth, and 100 email accounts. I have my pages designed and about 70% complete so when I make the move, it will be to just make the purchase, get the setup confirmation from the host and upload the files. This should be done in less than 3 weeks. Jay on the other hand, has a friend of ours helping with his design. And because this friend is quite busy with his own life's projects, Jay is playing the waiting game. But the quicker that he can get moved the better for Stop The ACLU. Because if he loses viewership, we all lose. Since his site is the hub for a lot of us.

This So-Called Compromise

The compromise agreed to by 7 Republicans and 7 Dumocraps yesterday that stalled the judicial conformation impasse is a nothing deal. These Senators in a sense made a deal to delay the inevitable. And here is why I think so. First, the 7 Republicans involved are risking re-election support from the White House and the GOP. The 7 Dumocraps unlike their Republican counterparts, are not the moderates of the party. Let's face it, John McCain has a reputation for being the black sheep of the GOP. So extremely moderate that I often wonder why the GOP even endorses him for his campaigns. If he wants to act like an Independent, let him run as an Independent. Barbara Boxer and Robert Byrd are probably two of the most partisan Dumocraps on the Hill. Boxer is an extreme left coast liberal that backs party doctrine no matter what positions that she may have previously taken. And Byrd is an old school "Good 'Ol Boy" from the "Jim Crow" south and a former Grand Dragon of the Grand Order of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. Is it any surprise that Byrd would be against conformation of Judge Janice Rogers Brown? So, what is going to happen? The 5 nominations will go forward as agreed to, but the other 2 will not. There will be an attempt to filibuster those nominees by the Dumocraps. Which, will inevitably spark another round of posturing. And in the end, I see the filibuster being removed from the rules in regards to judicial conformations. Thereby, paving the way for the President to nominate whomever he wishes to replace any Supreme Court Justice who may retire. What were the Dumocraps (I like saying that) thinking? Have they lost their collective brain cell (they only had one among them)? If they would have allowed these nominations to go forward without this partisan rhetoric, they would have saved the political clout of the filibuster to challenge any nomination that the President may have put forward for the Supreme Court. The utter stupidity of all of this amounts to political suicide. Help Put A Stop To The Most Dangerous Organization In America. Busy Busy Busy

For the past couple of months, I've been honing my skills at html. I'm finally comfortable enough to get Microsoft Frontpage to work. And I'm now prepared to invest some money into a domain and a website. I've decided to go with Go Daddy.com because their pricing seems to be the best. I'm going with a hosting plan a little bigger than what I need, but for the features and the money, I think that it may be worth it. Consequently, this blog will eventually be moved. But the hows, wheres, and whatfores haven't been worked out yet. I won't be ready to start up the Go Daddy deal for about 2 or 3 weeks yet. But once I do, I hope to have everything fine tuned off line so all I will have to do is up load the files. I've had a Bravenet account for several months. But I tend to neglect it. So what I did is, put together several pages and uploaded them to my Bravenet site. I did this so that I could get some reaction from those who's opinions I trust. The comments page isn't done yet because I really don't like the Bravenet guest book and forum. And because they don't recognize the Frontpage extentions, I can't put one together yet that will work with it. What I would like is for anyone who is reading this, if you have a couple of minutes to spare, check out what I've done so far and leave me a comment here. A Compromise Has Been Agreed To

Judicial Activism, is as closely related to the liberal Dumocraps as obstructionism. Liberal judges have been tearing away at the power of the people since the 1972 Roe v Wade decision. Liberals like it when judges take power out of the hands of the people. Judges making decisions on issues which in a sense makes new law, is what gives the evil American Communist Lawyers Union (ACLU) their power. This compromise gives three of the President's nominees a vote on the floor of the Senate. Two of the others will not get a vote. And the compromise gives the option of a filibuster to the minority for any nominee in the future. I personally see this as a no-where deal. The three nominees agree upon by this compromise would have been approved with the vote that would have happened if the Senate voted to change the rules. The two who will not be getting a vote, probably would not have been approved. What I'm concerned about is, there are two other nominees which haven't been mentioned. So what is this. Nothing. Had the Dumocraps let things go like they naturally would have without a filibuster, this is exactly the same thing that would have happened. All this political posturing would not have taken place. The Dumocraps were stupid to bring this up to begin with. If they would have let the normal judicial appointment process happen just like every other time in history, the filibuster option for the Supreme Court nomination would have been protected. The risk that was adverted could have forced the hand of the majority and they would have permanently lost the option to filibuster that nominee. My conclusion, same old stupid rhetoric. Same old ignorance governing the liberals. Those who wish to see this nation dragged down into the gutter of socialism lost again. In an effort that probably did more to waste money than anything else. Help Put A Stop To The Most Dangerous Organization In America. Lingering Chat Problems

The other day when Jay and I were testing the new chat platform, we didn't experience any problems. However last night there were a few. I have since address them. Instead of the link redirecting you to a page on my personal website, the link will take you to a cover page on the chat-host's server. You will then have to enter a user name. I would suggest registering one. If you have a registered screen name, you will also have to put in a password. If you do not have a registered screen name, just enter any nick you wish (if it isn't registered) and skip the password (leave it blank) and enter the chat. It will load full screen on your browser. And should load a lot faster. Especially since we don't have to wait on bravenet then the applet to load. I hope everyone who wanted to chat this week and were unable to get in will try again next week.

ACLU Charges High School Principal With Censorship

Here we go again people. The Most Dangerous Organization in America has targeted a high school administrator for doing his job.

School Principal Pulls Article On Homosexuality, ACLU Steps In

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - After a Bakersfield high school principal pulled several articles written for the campus newspaper dealing with homosexuality last week, students and the American Civil Liberties Union complained of censorship.

The principal at East High says he feared for the students' safety. The ACLU will hold a press conference today in Los Angeles to tell their side of the story. (source)

And in another article

The suit, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union in Kern County Superior Court, requests an emergency order to allow the paper to publish the stories in The Kernal's year-end May 27 issue. Students also want school administrators to take steps to reduce homophobia and anti-gay attitudes.

"The Kernal staff, along with the gay students we interviewed, we have lost our voices," said the paper's editor and chief, Joel Paramo, who is one of the plaintiffs in the case. The Gay-Straight Alliance Network is another plaintiff.

"It's not about gay and lesbians. It's about student safety," said High School Principal John Gibson (source)

The Principal himself stated the reason why he pulled these articles. He stated his reason was because of his concern for the safety of students. Excuse me, I thought the job of the Principal of a school was to ensure the students a safe learning environment. School newspapers should be subject to editorial approval from a faculty member. The faculty advisor to the school newspaper should have known better than to allow such content in the newspaper to begin with. High schools are institutions of learning not social clubs. Student newspapers should be restricted to proper content. Newspapers in the real world have a responsibility to not print stories that would incite individuals and groups to become violent against others. And if I've read this story correctly, that is exactly the reason why the Principal exercised editorial authority to block such stories. I have an idea, why don't we give the gay rights advocates their wish. Allow them to marry. Then re-institute the sodomy laws, find them all guilty and send them all somewhere sex for them is abundant. Help Put A Stop To The Most Dangerous Organization In America. This Week's Subject: ACLU's Supprt Of Legalized Unregulated Prostitution
Visit the ACLU's website and type Prostitution in the search bar and you get a variety of results. Everything from their opposition to a city ordinance banning public nudity aimed at eliminating strip clubs in Erie, PA, to Detroit profiling men in public parks. Now I know that these examples aren't the exact subject for today's BlogBurst. I only mention them because the ACLU avoids the real question. Putting up examples of laws aimed at public lewdness instead of addressing what was inquired. It's not just limited to the issue of prostitution, it's every issue that they address. They hide their policies preferring to only clue in the public to their agenda through court filings. But here is the real truth. I am re-printing (cross posting) my friend Jay's post. He has a source that knows the ACLU policy reguarding prostitution.
The ACLU's Policy 211 is straightforward. "The ACLU supports the decriminalization of prostitution and opposes state regulation of prostitution". They base their argument on several points, including that existing laws are discrimination against women, and the right of individual privacy. They argue that what two consenting adults in private do is their own business. Prostitution is private? But isn’t the prostitute engaging in business, isn’t she providing a service? Would we not regulate and license a business? You wouldn’t want a general contractor to work on your house without a license would you? That would be unsafe as is an unregulated prostitute. However, the ACLU doesn't believe in that philosophy. The question of privacy comes in if the government is allowed to regulate the oldest profession. As for it being a privacy it seems a contradiction to me when they also state that the "public" solicitation of prostitution is "entitled to the protection of the First Amendment". "It's not just the bedroom that the ACLU wishes to make off-limits to public censure, but also the local street corner, presumably even if that corner is regularly used by school children crossing the street." Source Privacy applies to two consenting adults when no contract is involved; a date with no expectation of performance is a far cry from paying for a service. And what good would it do for women's rights to decriminalize this? One could argue that women should not be punished for their own exploitation. But how does decriminalizing pimps, buyers, procurers, brothels or other sex establishments offer any solution to this? Decriminalization would do nothing but expand the sex industry and send a message to society that it is acceptable. And a system unregulated would do nothing for women's health, and would only promote the spread disease. The more I learn about the ACLU, the more I am convinced that they want to establish a new society based on everything immoral. They are blinded by their elitist ideology to the point they can't even conceive of the possible consequences that will result if they are enacted. The scary thing is that they hold so much power, and lack so much responsibility. They must be stopped. This was a production of Stop The ACLU Blogburst! If you would like to join, it is very simple. A Newsletter From GOP.com (Reprint)

More and more reports are emerging of the extent to which Democrats were willing to go to try to influence the 2004 election. Well, their tactics worked in Washington State. Our Republican candidate for Governor, Dino Rossi, actually won the election. Then he won the recount. Then Democrat-controlled King County "found" 566 new votes just in time for the second recount, enough to overturn the results of Election Day and the first recount. The new result? Dino Rossi "lost" by 129 votes. But consider the following facts in Washington state; 943 felons illegally voted 49 dead people voted 3 people voted in Washington and another state 2 illegal aliens voted 12 people voted multiple times 174 provisional votes were counted but later found to be cast people who had already voted or were unregistered Also, at least another 1,600 ballots are still in question: 875 more absentee votes were cast in King County than there were absentee voters 95 more ballots in King County and 50 ballots in Whitman County were "found" after both recounts, and have never been counted At least 660 provisional ballots were improperly counted in King County. Dino Rossi is fighting, and voters of good conscience from across this country should stand with him. For more info on Dino Rossi and his ongoing fight, please go to www.dinorossi.com. Respect for Honor, Duty, & Country

Writing blogs is a right granted me by the Constitution of the United States of America. In particular the 1st Amendment. That document has needed to be defended by men and women throughout history. Millions of Americans have shed blood for this right that I have. Many more, including myself have served in times when active combat wasn't actually happening. Many of us were the silent weapons that won the Cold War. And for this sacrifice, all Americans have rights protected under our system of government. I was redirected from Michelle Malkin's blog to a blog called BlackFive. I was captivated by the reasons why the writer of BlackFive founded his blog. He had a friend who he had served with in the Army, killed in an attack on his convoy delivering supplies to a forward area in Iraq. I would suggest all who are reading this to follow the link and read it for yourself. Newsweek made a deadly blunder with the release of their May 9th article. Further damaging our already tarnished image in the eyes of Islamic peoples from around the world. And insighting several riots which resulted in the deaths of 17 people and injuring hundreds more. Which is fueling the resolve of the insergency in Iraq. How this relates to the subject that I started with is, Newsweek had a crew at the scene of the attack which resulted in the death of that brave soldier. During the battle, the Newsweek reporters hightailed their asses out of the area faster than nuclear fission. But never once wrote a report on the battle that they were witnessed to. Those of us who have served our country have a deep respect for those who serve. And a greater respect for those who pay the ultimate price. Newsweek doesn't. Newsweek only wishes to sell magazines and damage the Republican Administration. Do yourself a favor and read this article at BlackFive. Dedicated to the Memory of Major Mathew E. Schram, USA. Killed in action May 26, 2003. Rest In Peace Major Schram. Thank you for your sacrifice. You will never be forgotten. Filibuster Confrontation Coming to a Head

Monday, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) held a press conference to plea for Republican votes against the rules change that would effectively end the unprecedented filibuster of judicial nominees. Reid claims that he only needs 6 Republican turncoats in order to uphold the abuse of Senate rules. Reid and his party have used the filibuster in a manner that hasn't been done since the filibuster became part of the Senate rules. Contrary to popular belief, the filibuster isn't in the Constitution. It is a tool written into the Senate rules in order that the minority party may delay votes on legislation which in their view would have a negative impact on the nation. By changing the rules to eliminate the process of applying the filibuster to judicial nominees the Senate would be exercising their ability to do just that. Judicial nominations go through a comprehensive committee process. The nominees awaiting a floor vote have pass through committee with no problems. But all of a sudden, the Dumocratic leadership wishes to gum up the works and force the hand of the majority party. Any negative impact on the legislative process due to this action, is the fault of the Dumocrats. All they have to do is allow an up or down vote. The Constitution provides for a confirmation process by simple majority. Now that Dumocrats are backed into a corner, should there be a need to confirm a Supreme Court nominee, the Dumocrats will have no ability to apply the filibuster. The Republican leadership put forth an olive branch which I thought went too far. But, it was very reasonable. One hundred hours of debate then a vote. That is an hour for each Senator to make his/her feelings about a nominee known. Dumocrats rejected it. Holding on to the "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" idea of making the process work. Harry Reid combined with Howard Dean supporting a potential Hillary Clinton Presidential campaign will be making things very easy for the GOP to hold the White House and retain if not gain seats in both houses of Congress. Dumocrats are their own worse enemy. Republicans have been very tolerant on this issue for far too long. Obstructionism is the rule of the day and Dumocrats living up to their reputation. They are damaging their own ability to use this tool in the future. And committing political suicide in the process. Trouble is, every time the libs put forth a poll on this issue they frame the questions in such a manner as to favor supporting the filibuster rules. If asked should judicial nominees to the federal bench receive an up or down vote, the numbers shift dramatically in the favor of the rules change. And my final opinion on this matter is this, any Republican who votes to reject the rules change to end filibusters for judicial nominees, should not get any support from the Party come re-election time. And I would add, that the Party should be looking for other candidates in the state to run as the endorsed candidate for the seat. Are you listening Sen. McCain? Media Bias Kills 17 and Counting...

Today, Newsweek magazine finally formally retracted the story that claimed that US interrogators at Guantanamo Bay flushed a copy of the Quran down a toilet. Why are they doing this? Not political pressure, they've realize what they've done. Their Bush bashing ways actually led to the killing of 17 people to this point and that number is rising. As a citizen of this country, I believe that there are operations that this government has a responsibility to engage in that the American people don't need to know about. Journalists have a responsibility to investigate the truth. But equally, a responsibility to the people of this country not to report information that they may uncover that;1) isn't 100% true, 2) causes violence against any sector of the population, 3) causes undue violence in any sector of the world, & 4) doesn't reveal national security sensitive material. Newsweek caused riots in foreign countries by their zeal to uncover dirt on the current administration. One may say that this story was a ploy to scoop other news sources and sell more magazines. I subscribe to the theory that Newsweek is part of the MSM's assault on Conservative thought. The anti-Conservative mantra of those MSM outlets who attempt to shape the opinions of the majority of Americans, is so infectious, that common sense has taken a back seat to the goals of the movement. Knowing the volatile nature of the Islamic world, Newsweek went ahead with a story that had potential to erupt the middle east into a blazing inferno. And it did. As of the time of this writing, 17 people are dead and scores more injured because this magazine failed to use prudent restraint in reporting this information. Then they come forth with a so-called apology which did nothing to ease the tension. Offering an excuse that they attempted to confirm the story through 2 Pentagon officials 1 of which declined to speak on the matter. The other, outright telling them a portion of their story was untrue so they didn't print it. But because this official didn't deny the Quran desecration, they assumed it was true. You know what happens when you assume don't you?
Not only did they make an ass of themselves and the rest of us, they've killed. Information which leads to the murder of anyone is contributing to the murder. So in that sense, Newsweek's editorial staff needs to be held accountable for these deaths and injuries. And at the top of the chain of culpability is the un-named source who brought this information to Newsweek. Chances are that they sold this story to the magazine. And if that is the truth, profiting from information which leads to the deaths and injuries of others is also contributing to these deaths and injuries. Newsweek should be compelled to release the name of the source of the story and charged. Then the source should be charged as well. And not in the United States. In the countries where the deaths occurred. By sending these parties to the country of the scenes of these murders and injuries, they would be subject to the judicial authority of those countries. And maybe, just maybe, the MSM might tone down their rhetoric. Maybe, just maybe, the MSM might be more fair & balanced. But I won't hold my breath. Newsweek's Big Blunder Gets People Killed

This country's news media is infected. Infected with the bug that places sensationalism above public responsibility. Last fall, Dan Rather and his cohorts at CBS went forward with a story damaging to the President at the 11th hour of the Presidential campaign. They went forward with a story that relied heavily on documentation that wasn't authentic. Thanks in no small part to observant bloggers, this fraud was exposed. Rather has "retired" and his cohorts have largely joined the unemployment line with damaged credibility. CNN's Eason Jordan was deposed because of statements that he made claiming that US troops were intentionally targeting journalists in Iraq and Afghanistan. Charges which couldn't be proven. He would have gotten away with it had it not been for those of us in the blogsphere who brought these false statements to public attention. Jordan resigned to save CNN further embarrassment and the MSM still never picked the story up. And now, Newsweek goes forward with a story claiming that US interrogators desecrated the Quran in order to extract information from detainees. FoxNews.com had this to say: Newsweek magazine Sunday apologized for a May 9 report alleging U.S. interrogators flushed the Quran down the toilet at Guantanamo Bay, a claim that had prompted attacks in Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Gaza Strip that left 15 dead and scores more injured. "We regret that we got any part of our story wrong and extend our sympathies to victims of the violence and to the U.S. soldiers caught in its midst," Editor Mark Whitaker wrote in the magazine's latest issue. In response to the demonstrations and subsequent deadly clashes that sparked promises by the U.S. for an investigation, about 500 Islamic scholars and tribal elders gathered in Faizabad, 310 miles northeast of Afghanistan's capital, Kabul. The scholars called for a resolution mandating anyone found to have abused the Quran to be punished, said Maulawi Abdul Wali Arshad, head of the religious affairs department in Badakhshan province. Arshad and the provincial police chief said the scholars demanded a "reaction" from U.S. authorities within three days, but they denied reports that the scholars threatened to declare a holy war if the deadline was not respected. The controversial Newsweek report said U.S. military investigators found evidence that interrogators had placed copies of Islam's holy book in washrooms and had flushed one down the toilet in efforts to get inmates to talk. Newsweek Washington Bureau Chief Daniel Klaidman said the magazine believes it erred in reporting the allegation and that military investigators had confirmed the accusation. "The issue here is to get the truth out, to acknowledge as quickly as possible what happened, and that's what we're trying to do," Klaidman told the "CBS Evening News" on Sunday. Whitaker wrote that the magazine's information came from "a knowledgeable U.S. government source," and before publishing the item, writers Michael Isikoff and John Barry sought comment from two Defense Department officials. One declined to respond, and the other challenged another part of the story but did not dispute the Quran charge, Whitaker said. "Top administration officials have promised to continue looking into the charges, and so will we," Whitaker wrote. On Aug. 1, 2002, an FBI agent who went to Gitmo made a report detailing statements from a detainee who said a U.S. official had flushed the Quran, sources told FOX News. The FBI did not confirm that this allegation was true, but it did pass on a report about the detainee's statement to the Department of Defense, U.S. officials said. Several U.S. officials told FOX News they have no evidence of the incident, which they said could have been triggered by a released detainee making unfounded allegations. On Thursday, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Richard Myers said a guard claimed a detainee was ripping pages out of a Quran and putting them in the toilet to stop it up as a protest. Officials at Guantanamo keep detailed logs of detainee actions, as well as what at times have been considered questionable countermeasures taken by guards that human rights groups have charged amount to abuse, officials said. Many of the 520 inmates at Guantanamo are Muslims arrested during the U.S.-led war against the Taliban and its Al Qaeda allies in Afghanistan. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said in a televised interview that the allegations were being investigated "vigorously." "If it turns out to be true, obviously we will take action against those responsible," he said. FOX News' Anna Persky, Bret Baier, Nick Simeone and Heather Scroope and The Associated Press contributed to this report. FoxNews military analyst Col. David Hunt stated that Newsweek's error is responsible for murder and those responsible should be held accountable and charged with the murder of those who died due to the violence which ensued because of the story. People in the middle-east and other countries with high concentrations of Muslims took the word of Newsweek to be the truth because it came from the United States. Their blunder cost lives and may cause more. A simple "I'm sorry" doesn't cover it. Anyone with half a brain should know that our interrogators are smarter than that. Desecration of the Quran would only serve to strengthen the resolve of those who resist other interrogation methods. So why would our guys do that? The short answer is they wouldn't. It would be counter productive to do so. I think Col. Hunt is correct. The editor of Newsweek and the writer of the story should be compelled to reveal their sources and be charged with a crime. Their sources should also be charged with a crime. Chances are that Newsweek has paid for that information. And by receiving payment for false statements which led to the commission of a crime is conspiracy in the least and murder at the most. End of Rant. The ACLU campaign to advance communist goals

I received a link for this through an alert that I have set up to notify me when a story is released concerning the ACLU. I really can't add much to this other than it originates from that bastion of leftist thought, Southern California. It is written by an attorney who is involved in challenging the goals of the ACLU as it comes into conflict with the LA city seal case.
Reprinted from The American Thinker

Shuffling out of the movie theater last weekend, I emitted a silent scream, frustrated by yet another example of Christianity under assault, the tumescent epic, “Kingdom of Heaven,” a film so utterly contemptuous of Christians and adoring of Muslims that a leading authority on the Crusades branded it “Osama Bin Laden's version of history.”

“What insane times we live in,” one film critic notes. “Here we are in the midst of the War on Terror, and all Hollywood can do is continually bash Christianity.”

In an industry historically known for coddling communists (the blacklist, Jane Fonda, Stone, Spielberg and others traipsing off to Cuba to glorify Castro) one tends to surrender to the unregenerate status quo. Only through the fortitude of pioneers like Jason Apuzzo and Govindini Murty, whose Liberty Film Festival departs from the script by promoting works of an emerging class of conservative filmmakers, can truthful depictions of history get told.

The opiate of Hollywood fare disguised as high-minded popular culture further dulls the minds of a culture already narcotized by a steady supply of anti-Christian rhetoric. The “mainstream” media remains complicit, as evidenced by Harper’s May issue, exposing “America’s Most Powerful Megachurch,” and the “hate” of “national religious broadcasters.”

“America,” said Joseph Stalin, “is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.”

Hollywood and the media certainly play major roles in the subtle campaign to subvert Judeo-Christian traditions, but they pose a lesser threat than the judiciary and activist organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union and the LAMBDA Legal Defense and Education Fund, who represent its driving force.

In Southern California especially, these activists have targeted the Christian cross with glorious success. Examples abound:

Government Seal Cases: The ACLU Foundation of Southern California threatened to sue the County of Los Angeles and the City of Redlands unless depictions of the cross were removed from their official seals.

War Memorial Cases: The ACLU Foundation of San Diego and Imperial Counties succeeded in its legal effort to dismantle the 43-foot tall Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial Cross, a landmark for more than 50 years in La Jolla. The ACLU Foundation of Southern California was equally successful in obtaining an order dismantling a cross that has been a World War I memorial fixture on Sunrise Rock in the Mojave Desert since 1932.

Though battles have been lost, the war rages on:

In Los Angeles, two lawsuits were filed against the County. The Thomas More Law Center, of which I am affiliated counsel but not in their action, sued the County under an Establishment Clause theory. U.S. District Judge S. James Otero sustained the ACLU’s demurrer. The case is now on appeal to the Ninth Circuit.

The Claremont Institute, the Individual Rights Foundation, the Orange County firm of Wagner Lautsch and I sued in Superior Court under state and federal constitutional theories as well as under a taxpayer waste theory pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure 526a. This action has been stayed pending the outcome of the federal appeal. I am also vice-chair of the Committee to Save the Seal Ordinance petition drive, the purpose of which is to place a measure on a June 6, 2006, ballot putting the question whether the cross should remain on the seal to voters.

In Redlands, a similar measure will appear on a November ballot.

In San Diego, the City Council will hear argument on May 17 over whether to consider a transfer of the Mount Soledad property to private owners.

And on April 8, 2005, after an unsuccessful appeal to the Ninth Circuit, and without media fanfare, U.S. District Judge Robert J. Timlin signed an order requiring the immediate dismantling of the Sunrise Rock cross. That case, Buono v. Norton, has drawn the wrath of the American Legion, which is approaching the defeat with a novel solution.

The Legion passed a resolution calling on Congress to amend 42 U.S.C. Section 1988, to bar recovery of attorney fees to the prevailing party in cases filed for the purpose of removing and destroying religious symbols located on public property.

Rees Lloyd, a past commander of a Legion post in Banning, California, and himself a former ACLU attorney, drafted the resolution. This week, U.S. Representative John Hostettler (R-Indiana) is expected to introduce the Public Expression of Religion Act. Its goal is to drive out one incentive to file lawsuits where no one is complaining and no one is actually injured. The ACLU pockets the change even when delegating work to pro bono attorneys.

In a recent Daily Journal news item (5-6-05), attention was drawn to the measure, but in publicizing it, those attorneys who are expected to oppose the measure were classified as “civil rights” lawyers while those of us who would support it were not.

The report led by stating that supporters hope it will have a “chilling effect on civil rights attorneys.” Later in the piece, the reporter noted that “civil liberties lawyers warn the measure, if successful, would bode ill for anyone tackling an issue unpopular with a member of Congress.”

Identified as “an advocate for keeping the cross on the [County] seal,” I somehow failed to rate the civil rights lawyer tag.

But if I am not a civil rights lawyer, defending the rights of people whose traditions and heritage are under attack, then what? Who really believes that a cross in the desert, on a hilltop or on a seal establishes a government-endorsed religion? Who honestly believes their tax money is working to do any more than to honor war veterans or the community’s heritage?

Communicating the message of religious liberty certainly presents challenges, not the least of which is convincing the media, or Hollywood for that matter, that defending the cross is beneficial to our society and in fact crucial to preserving our civil rights and liberties.

When the ACLU cleverly named itself a “civil liberties” union in 1920, its idea of civil liberty was hardly consistent with what the U.S. Constitution’s framers had in mind.

“I am for socialism,” wrote ACLU founder Roger Baldwin in 1936. “I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.”

Communism, a political theory favoring collectivism in a classless society, remains the goal. Imagine a world without religion, the utopian song asks without imagining the tyranny of a classless society.

When U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Henry Matson Waite composed his analysis of the Establishment Clause in Reynolds v. United States, a Free Exercise case, he relied on Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury (Connecticut) Baptist Association and Jefferson’s “wall of separation between church and State.”

Strange that he would examine the Establishment Clause at all since it was not in issue. Stranger still was his reliance on Jefferson’s letter and his attraction to the “wall of separation” phrase, parroted by judges and liberal activists ever since.

As Justice Waite even observed, Jefferson was in France when the language of the First Amendment was finalized and adopted. It was James Madison’s version that we venerate today. “It met the views of the advocates of religious freedom, and was adopted,” Waite wrote. Jefferson’s letter was a peevish response.

When Justice Hugo Black lifted the Reynolds analysis in Everson v. Board of Education (1945), he resisted the urge to compare what other founding fathers thought about the matter. “The wall of separation” was thus enshrined in our national consciousness and divides us still.

If the ACLU were to support the Hostettler bill, it would go a long way toward proving that they aren’t profiteers at the expense of people of faith and believers in the sanctity of tradition. But I suspect they will commit all their resources toward winning another tiny battle in their classless and unholy crusade. As Memorial Day approaches, keep it in mind.

What can I add to this? Nothing, the article is perfect. Written by an articulate attorney with the same goals in mind as the bulk of the American public. His analysis is right on the money and needs brought to the awareness of everyone.

So many in this country have no idea what the ACLU is up to. Many of those same people have been duped into giving this Communist Front Organization money. If you don't believe me, just ask 10 people at the supermarket what the ACLU is? And see how many have no idea. Multiply that number by 10 and that is the percentage of the public that has no idea what they are, who they are, and what they are doing.
