Is Mexico Getting Revenge for Texas and The War With Mexico?
Twice the United States offered to pay the government of Mexico for Texas. James K. Polk offered the Mexican government $1 million for Texas. Andrew Jackson then offered Mexico $5 million and was ridiculed as being soft for making the offer. But Mexico thought of Anglo-Americans settling in Texas as illegal aliens. The same for those settling in California. A decade after Texas Independence, it began to be talked about Texas being annexed to the United States. This infuriated the Mexican government as they still believed that Texas was a Provence of Mexico in rebellion. Along with the belief in "Manifest Destiny", the question of settlers in Texas was the catalyst which set off the war between Mexico and the United States. Now we have the reverse. Mexicans are illegally crossing the border seeking work and illicit enterprises in the United States. They come here undermine livable wages, lowering the standard of living. They often live 10 to 15 illegals in one home saving the costs of housing. They work for cash thereby circumventing the tax system. They live on the cheap so that they can send what they earn back to Mexico. Think that I don't know what I'm talking about? I lived at a boarding house a few years ago with a legal Mexican worker. A guy here to work on a vista. I know how he lived. And I know where all his money went. He paid his rent and was constantly broke. His family would call him weekly wanting more money from him. And this guy was here on a legal work vista and paying taxes. He was earning a union wage in a union shop and was broke. So is this payback? The Mexican government refuses to do anything about the illegal violations of our borders. And in doing so, is seen to be condoning the practice. So is this payback for Texas? I'm thinking maybe. Think of another fact. By not impeding the illegal crossing of our border, the government of Mexico is seen as condoning the practice. If 1 illegal crosses our border with a weapon, that is a government sponsored invasion of the United States. An act of war. Think back to last week when the Mexican Army was permitted to cross the border with relief supplies for Louisiana. Not one of their soldiers were armed. Why? That would be an act of war. So the gang banger on his way to sell drugs and send his profits back to his people in Mexico, and comes across carrying a gun, with the permission of his government, is conducting an act of war on the United States. Or at least that's how I see it. This has been a product of the Guard Our Borders BlogBurst.
